Deuteronomy

The Christian and Covid-19

We don’t know what lies ahead with this virus, but we do know what the Lord has told us to proceed, and He will continue to shepherd us as we go.

This is the subject of Pastor Doug’s talk today.

If you are just now finding our videos, please note we live stream each Sunday at 10:30am MST on our our Facebook page or you can watch later that day on our YouTube channel.

The Lord’s View of Mothers

On Mother’s Day, some scriptures that reveal how the Lord made the nature of mothers and how He views their place in our world:

“A woman giving birth to a child has pain because her time has come; but when her baby is born she forgets the anguish because of her joy that a child is born into the world.” — John 16:21

“As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you; you shall be comforted in Jerusalem.” – Isaiah 66:13

“Honor your father and your mother, as the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land the Lord your God is giving you.” — Deuteronomy 5:16

“Hear, my son, your father’s instruction, and forsake not your mother’s teaching, for they are a graceful garland for your head and pendants for your neck.” –- Proverbs 1:8-9

“Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.” — Proverbs 31:31

“Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.” — Proverbs 31:28

If you can, read the wonderful story of the Shunammite mother in II Kings 4:8-37. It perfectly illustrates a faithful woman’s love and respect for the Lord and her recognition of Whom to trust in caring for her child.

These are just a handful of the scriptures which talk about mothers. We hope they encourage you.

And for those who feel humbled to the point you don’t ever think you will be the kind of mother described in some of these verses, take a listen to the hope that’s in the Lord. Doug discusses it here:

How Do I Know God When I Find God?

Today’s live stream was about recognizing and acknowledging God’s character.

Some of His aspects:

  1. God is Truth
  2. God is Loyal
  3. God is Just
  4. God is not an interrogator
  5. God is not an intimidator
  6. God is not a manipulator

Bible Club Cancelled for This Week

The best kind of Bible Club
Both Megan and I are sick, so we are cancelling Bible Club for this week. Our apologies for any inconvenience. We will also have no club next week due to Spring Break.

But we will return on March 25th with four more Club meetings. The last one for this year will be on April 15.

Next year, we will start in early October and run through April with no Club on the days school is not in session.

We are also hoping to do some events this summer. We have some ideas, but you are certainly free to offer your ideas as well.

If you have any questions or concerns, please give us a call or text.

Sincerely,
Lisa Zirkle

P.S. Please pray for us and our families. Megan is pregnant and also has a little one. I’m rarely sick, but I feel awful today and I’m due to fly out tomorrow to see my mother in Texas. She’s not doing well. And thank you for all the prayers you have given over the years. I really appreciate it.
